...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead Announce New Album IX

...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead have announced a new album, their ninth and first since 2012's Lost Songs. It's called IX, and it's out November 11 in North America and October 20 in Europe via Superball Music. The record was produced by Chris "Frenchie" Smith at Sonic Ranch Studio in Texas.

You can go to this website to piece together the cover art (which was designed by the band's Conrad Keely) in a puzzle.

The band also released a statement about the album in a press release:

From the crowded streets of Phnom Penh to the vast empty landscape of West Texas...we have cut through...burned through...and followed through to reach you...From the heat of the desert...to the heat of your city's sprawling squall...This transmission is here to transport and ruin you. It is the release of your mortal coil...Just let the rain wash it away from the mountains...down to the motherfucking sea...wash it away ...blow it all away and check this moment out.

Additionally, they've announced a European tour. One of the openers will be Midnight Masses, a band featuring members of Trail of Dead. Check out the full schedule below.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
