Mariachi Rendition of Radiohead's "Creep", New Paul Williams Songs to Appear in Animated Film

The Book of Life is an animated film based on Mexican folk art and Day of Dead folklore. The soundtrack will feature mariachi and norteño renditions of popular songs, including Radiohead's "Creep", as Billboard reports.

The film is in theaters on October 17. It's also set to feature original songs from songwriting legend (and Random Access Memories collaborator) Paul Williams, plus a mariachi version of Biz Markie's "Just a Friend".

"Using norteño and mariachi music communicates to the audience Mexican culture is international," producer Guillermo del Toro told Billboard. "Mexico is more than folklore—it's the way we filter the influence of the world."

And remember: Radiohead are recording and rehearsing in September.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
