  1. Here's another cut by the funkmeister - the video is not very innovative, but that's not the point Deep House / Pino Shamlou - Big City Lights (Frankman remix)
  2. "The Radio Dept. is an indie pop band from Lund, Sweden. The band was conceived in 1995 by schoolmates Elin Almered and Johan Duncanson, who named the group after a gas-station-turned-radio-repair-shop called "Radioavdelningen"). However, Almered and Duncanson soon stopped playing music together, putting the band on hiatus. The group was reborn three years later, in 1998, when Duncanson starting making music with Martin Larsson. In 2001, Larsson's then girlfriend Lisa Carlberg joined the group on bass, followed by Per Blomgren on drums and Daniel Tjader on keyboards." - Read more @Wikipeda.
  3. Lion + Tiger = 900 lb. Liger

  6. Ars Technica reports that "Swedish prosecutors dump 4,000 legal docs on The Pirate Bay" - but the admins there don't seem too worried: Last November, Peter Sunde told Ars that, should charges come, he's sure of a legal victory. "I'm quite confident we're gonna win and I was expecting this to happen," he said. "[swedish prosecutor Håkan] Roswall is also a very biased man, so I'm glad to take it to court instead of letting him dig around my personal life for no apparent reason. Actually, it's kinda funny." Time hasn't changed his feelings on the charges, as we checked in with the Sunde. "I'm quite sure we won't be convicted anyhow," Sunde told Ars today. "[if we are], we'll just appeal all the way to the European Union court. So in five years time this might be settled."
  7. Jamesz, you are correct. The networks are playing with fire - audiences can and will find other ways to get their entertainment. Speaking of which, as I predicted above: Black Monday At TV Studios "The force majeure ax swung wide Monday as four TV studios -- CBS Paramount Network TV, Universal Media Studios, 20th Century Fox Television and Warner Bros. TV -- tore up dozens of overall deals. All four issued similarly worded statements blaming the writers strike for the terminations, which are expected to save the studios tens of millions of dollars. But none came close to the nearly 30 overall deals axed at ABC Studios on Friday. CBS Par and 20th TV each dropped half that number. UMS and WBTV stayed in the single digits, with WBTV's termination tally said to be less than five deals. Like ABC Studios, CBS Par, UMS, 20th TV and WBTV mostly went after writers, producers and directors with no active projects." Read More
  8. Excellent additions, and from an expert no less
  9. I've never figured out why people are so excited about that website. Just seems like another place to post info about yourself, and pics, and stuff.
  10. No. We are talking about their political beliefs. Extremely conservative. Some of the founders have ties to the CIA and have Reagan-Thatcher political philosophies. The world they want to create is anti-nature - totally virtual, where everyone knows everything about you. That to me, is scary. Read the article and you will have an entirely different opinion about Faceboook
  11. True. But...the politics behind facebook are interesting.
  12. Yeah... well I was responding to Malicious Intent's slider issue. And if you don't like it,
  13. The Daily Swarm reports that EMI is 1) close to raising $200 Million in investment 2) is preparing to lay off 1/3 fo their 6000 manned staff 3) plans to take a 'focus group' approach to album releases I find #3 to be frightening. They might as well be in the detergent business.
  14. Quicktime Pro is pretty versatile and you can edit on it - no problems with the slider, either. I agree that Miro is top heavy - its because of all the additional programming and features they offer; but they have the slider issue covered
  15. A tip of the hat to Fark for the find...
  16. No. Miro works better.... check it out
  17. From the UK Guardian article Facebook's privacy policy Just for fun, try substituting the words 'Big Brother' whenever you read the word 'Facebook' 1 We will advertise at you "When you use Facebook, you may set up your personal profile, form relationships, send messages, perform searches and queries, form groups, set up events, add applications, and transmit information through various channels. We collect this information so that we can provide you the service and offer personalised features." 2 You can't delete anything "When you update information, we usually keep a backup copy of the prior version for a reasonable period of time to enable reversion to the prior version of that information." 3 Anyone can glance at your intimate confessions "... we cannot and do not guarantee that user content you post on the site will not be viewed by unauthorised persons. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the site. You understand and acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of user content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other users have copied or stored your user content." 4 Our marketing profile of you will be unbeatable "Facebook may also collect information about you from other sources, such as newspapers, blogs, instant messaging services, and other users of the Facebook service through the operation of the service (eg, photo tags) in order to provide you with more useful information and a more personalised experience." 5 Opting out doesn't mean opting out "Facebook reserves the right to send you notices about your account even if you opt out of all voluntary email notifications." 6 The CIA may look at the stuff when they feel like it
  18. In his article "With friends like these ...", UK Guardian writer Tom Hodgkinson condemns the social network... and he has a few good reasons - check out their policies in the next post: "I despise Facebook. This enormously successful American business describes itself as "a social utility that connects you with the people around you". But hang on. Why on God's earth would I need a computer to connect with the people around me? Why should my relationships be mediated through the imagination of a bunch of supergeeks in California? What was wrong with the pub? And does Facebook really connect people? Doesn't it rather disconnect us, since instead of doing something enjoyable such as talking and eating and dancing and drinking with my friends, I am merely sending them little ungrammatical notes and amusing photos in cyberspace, while chained to my desk? A friend of mine recently told me that he had spent a Saturday night at home alone on Facebook, drinking at his desk. What a gloomy image. Far from connecting us, Facebook actually isolates us at our workstations." Read More

  20. Some Scientologists do not like being videotaped. Pretty fascinating stuff.
  21. "Georgia on My Mind" is a song written in 1930 by Stuart Gorrell (lyrics) and Hoagy Carmichael (music). It is the official state song of the U.S. state of Georgia. Gorrell wrote the lyrics for Hoagy's sister, Georgia Carmichael . However, the lyrics of the song are written ambiguously enough as to refer to the state or to a woman named "Georgia."
  22. Trickshot has posted a new rap song at MySpace, "30 weeks and 4 days", which he has made available for free. Get It here. Enjoy.
  23. The Go! Team are an English, Brighton-based six piece band (with two drummers) whose songs are a mixture of action theme songs, cheerleader chants, guitars and early hip hop, with a hint of '70s funk. Their songs are a mix of live instrumentation and samples from various sources - Wikipedia This song was released as a single. It also appears on the The Go!
