  1. They(and by they I mean Republicans too)have blocked Alaska, for example, from drilling in ANWR for oil. They cite it being an issue of the environment for why drilling can't go through. But - the area of where the drilling would occur has been deemed safe and appropriate by the people who note these things for a living. The Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, has brought a lawsuit against the Federal Government for this. Massachusetts is doing the same. And believe me I agree with you totally that they need to have regulations on outsourcing. But there is a difference between laws and the government actually doing things for you.
  2. Well it's not like I hate all Democrats. It's just that the current policies of the Democratic Congress and policies of the Democratic nominee for President, to me, are undesirable. As we've discussed before I don't like when governments intervene in affairs of the people. And ever since the Democrats have taken over the Congress all they've done is limit what can be done. My argument is the same from our old thread on this. Change can be accomplished - if the Congress can quit meddling in our affairs. The system works, it really does. The only problem with the country in this day and age is that the elected officials are not allowing it to.
  3. Well all opinions are as solid as their counterparts.
  4. Well that doesn't mean much. :P I am a pretty good speaker but that doesn't qualify me for public office.
  5. Well until then we can only say what the numbers reflect. Which so far show the GOP's numbers higher than average and Obama's support among important demographics slipping.
  6. Well it all depends. Plenty of supporters from both Obama and Clinton camps have already stated that one way the Democrats could shoot themselves in the foot is to pair the two up. Not only do people on each side don't want it to happen but a lot of them will switch allegiance if it does.
  7. The current Congress is Democrat. And you are right, it does have a low approval rating. Which is why two states(including MA, one of the most liberal states in the Union)are suing them because they are intervening where they shouldn't. Also, You are ignoring a number of key issues: 1) Obama does not have the support of the conservative Democrats 2) Obama does not have support of female voters Conservative Democrats actually hate him quite a lot. And the white female vote is all over the place. Either they're flocking to Johnny Boy's camp or they're sleeping in until Hillary makes a decision. Obama has to spend the next few months courting these crowds or he will not win.
  8. Who knows what could happen with her, really. Everything is up in the air. Either way she goes the Democrats face an uphill battle to gain the support of a number of demographics.
  9. Richardson? I wouldn't have guessed him tbh. Everyone is saying Clinton's denial cost her the VP slot tonight. Heh. Not to mention her little jabs at Obama's primary victories compared to hers. As far as McCains pick, Romney is probably correct. Though Sarah Palin is a cool choice too.
  10. Historic night here. First black nominee for President. :) Doesn't look like Hillary is done yet though, despite...well being done.
  11. I suppose one could make that connection. :P
  12. I think what you're really after is stronger anti corruption laws. That's fine.
  13. But I thought this was about Barack Obama's economic and health care policies? I don't know much about Bear Sterns, Enron and other corporations or what they've done so I can't really speak to that.
  14. Michael Moore? Really? lol And that's in Europe. Where the population of countries that have the system do not equal or outnumber our own. When you have three hundred million people expecting health care, the whole health care sector would completely collapse under the weight of what they need, when they need it and who gets it first. Imagine a hospital triage with three hundred million people and an extremely underpaid and understaffed faculty. I agree completely. Let's get the Federal Government to keep their noses out of the economy.
  15. Well when discussing universal health care, people often look to the places who have it to find it's strong points and it's faults. Now as far as why we can't have it, population numbers is one. Neither of these countries have three hundred million people like we do. And I can't speak for the incentive to become doctors in Europe but I know that in the United States a lot of people become doctors for the money. You always hear 'become a doctor, become a lawyer'. In a system of universal health care, money is scarce for doctors. And again it brings around my point of incentive. If there is no incentive to work then nothing will get done and that would be the end of the line for us.
  16. Capping the Oil Industry's profit when they're all we got for energy for the next ten years would only make the price higher. We cannot regulate them unless we want to risk total economic collapse. And the Canadian system is broken because people who are in dire need of health care still have to wait six months to get it because it's so over crowded with patients and the doctors are paid so little. Canadian doctors actually move to the US to make a living.
  17. Taxing people who can barely afford things now even more money to pay for a health care system that needs to protect three hundred million people doesn't seem like a logical thing. Universal Health Care hardly works in Canada and they have less than one hundred million. I mean, look at France. They've become a nation complete with unfullfilling "depressed" citizens who are able to to get their hands on every anti depressant that exists. Do we really want that? And power will always shift. Once someone understands the need to cut the Congressional umbilical cord and coal to oil, solar, wind and nuclear power become more popular, big oil won't be making the hundreds of billions it does because the market will be a thousand times more competitive. And that's what makes America America.
  18. What I'm trying to say that as of right now - May 2008 - we already have a government that is regulating us. Obviously it isn't doing us any favors. Why in God's name are people looking to Obama to regulate us even more?
