  1. One guy that I took my micro-electronics with a few years ago went to work for a rural school board. One town of about 1500 set up wireless connections between their 2 schools @ 3 blocks apart. Anyone remotely close received free access as a result. Haven't there been a lot of mumblings north and south of the border about putting some pretty tough restrictions on wireless hardware manufacturing?

  3. Britney Spears hopes to keep the momentum of her fourth album, In the Zone, going into 2004, as the pop princess has lined up dates for a North American tour to kick off this spring. The tour begins on March 2nd in San Diego. Twenty-five dates have been set so far, with the tour wrapping on either April 10th or 12th in New York City. Zone splashed onto the charts last week at Number One, Spears' fourth straight chart topper. The album slipped to Number Three this week, but in two weeks it has sold 860,000 copies. While that figure is strong, it pales in comparison to the 1.3 million first week sales for Oops! . . . I Did It Again in 2000. But Spears seems comfortable having traded teen pop for more grown-up, dance-oriented fare. "Of course, I'm not doing '. . . Baby One More Time' and those big, massive hits anymore," she said earlier this year. "I think this record is where I'm at right now in my life. It's sensual, it's sexual. I'm probably writing about [sex] subconsciously because I don't have that right now." Britney Spears tour dates (venues TBA): 3/2: San Diego 3/3: Phoenix 3/5: Fresno, CA 3/6: Las Vegas 3/8: Los Angeles 3/9: Oakland 3/11: Portland, OR 3/12: Seattle 3/15: Denver 3/17: Omaha 3/18: Moline, IL 3/19: Chicago 3/21: Detroit 3/23: Atlanta 3/24: Columbia, SC 3/25: Jacksonville, FL 3/28: Miami 3/29: Orlando 3/31: Philadelphia 4/1: Cleveland 4/3: Toronto 4/4: Montreal 4/6: Manchester, NH 4/8: Providence, RI 4/12: New York Source : Rolling Stone
  4. Limp Bizkit have called off a tour of Southeast Asia due to terrorism fears in the region. The tour was to launch tonight in Singapore, with dates in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines to follow. Promoter Michael Hosking told the Straight Times newspaper that the band would return to make up the dates once a greater sense of security had been established; the U.S. State Department recently issued warnings about possible terror activity. A six-date tour of South Korea and Japan will not be affected. Those dates launch on December 11th in Seoul and run through a two-night stand in Osaka on December 17th and 18th. In a milder act of aggression towards the SoCal rap-metal ensemble, frontman Fred Durst was hit in the face with an unidentified object during the band's November 21st show in New York City. The wound required seven stitches and Durst has placed video footage of his new scar on limpbizkit.com. MARC W. DOLECH (December 3, 2003) Source : Rolling Stone
  5. Koch Records, home to rapper Soulja Slim, have released a statement to press in response to Slim's death last week following a shooting. The statement, from Koch and it’s subsidiary Cut Throad Comitty, reads as follows: 'While most of us prepared to reconnect with family and friends to give thanks on the afternoon of November 26th, James Tapp, aka New Orleans Hip Hop legend Soulja Slim was tragically gunned down in New Orleans exiting his motor vehicle in front of his mother's house. At this time, authorities have no suspects or motives for the shooting. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic and senseless loss and we hope that whoever did this is brought to justice. He was a friend and he will be missed," said Bob Frank, President of KOCH Entertainment. Soulja Slim will always be remembered as an important figure in the Southern rap scene. Anthony Murray co-CEO of Cut Throat Committy Records and Slim's personal manager comments, "Soulja made it his business to take kids out of the ghetto and give them jobs with his label as a way of doing good for society. He really had the best of intentions at heart so these kids wouldn't have to endure some of the hardships he had to growing up." Originally known as Magnolia Slim, he started spitting rhymes back in 1992. Raised in New Orleans in the notoriously tough Magnolia Projects, Slim released two albums independently -- Dark Side and Soulja For Life. In the mid 90's, Slim signed to Master P's mighty No Limit label, going Gold with the album Give It 2 'Em Raw even though the rapper was incarcerated. He returned in 2001 with the well-received The Streetz Made Me, which generated the hit single "Soulja Like Mentality". In 2003, via his own label imprint (Cut Throat Committy Records), Slim signed with KOCH Records releasing the album Years Later ... A Few Months After. Thanks to the hit "I'll Pay For It" (a #1 record on WQUE/New Orleans for 8 weeks), Slim re-established himself as one of the South's true heavy hitters. "Hot Jock" Wild Wayne from WQUE comments, "He was extremely influential, some people call him the 2Pac of the South. He was about to shine a new light on New Orleans in terms of his music. It's just a tragic loss." "Rap is a cutthroat committee," Soulja lamented a few months ago. "But with KOCH Records, the #1 Independent label in the country, we've hooked up to make things official. Now we are going all the way." Ironically, Soulja Slim had just finished filming a video for his brand new single from Years Later ... titled "Lov Me Lov Me Not." The track is shipping to radio as we speak. KOCH Records and Cut Throat Comitty wishes to extend its deepest condolences to Soulja Slim's family'. Source: Soundgenerator
  6. I'm running a fairly stripped down machine, we both are, but we share the connection with the television service from the phone company.
  7. We switched over to DSL about 3 months ago, and our speeds have dropped ever since. Where I would have got similar to Yoda through Cable broadband, this is what I get through DSL: Our local cable gives a better rate to 'new customers', which they consider to be people that haven't had it in the previous 3 months. Next month, it's back to cable. edit- I hope you don't mind Meehowski, I resized your picture so it didn't kick the table as bad.
  8. A bit of advice for the single guys:
  9. Maybe this should have been in the hottie thread.
  10. How do you know you've been living wrong?
  11. Look at Tina Turner and Cher. Some wines aren't better with age, some just get sour.

  13. The secret service was right to be scared. You have to admit, a bright orange suit could get you into position to take a shot. I'm amazed they didn't temporarily forbid hunting in the area.
  14. I'm pretty cheap, and to add on, I'm dirt poor. We do give to any charity that asks though, and I get pretty pissed seeing people run a scam that's directly representing an actual charity. I bet their donations go down this year through no fault of their own.
  15. 1:12 no clue what time zone Sask. is in right now. City of Bridges Looking around and being grateful I have this place to come to.
