AMC's critically-acclaimed and compelling whodunit "The Killing" succeeded on both counts with its finale last season, but in doing so was met with harsh criticism from fans who did not receive a definitive answer to the show's biggest question: Who killed Rosie Larson? In knowing how TV networks function, I have to admit that I was much more surprised at the localized outrage from certain fans than I was at the conclusion of the season. The joint project will be title Mac and Brad, an homage to Scarface’s given name and Beanie’s nickname as well as their 2008 joint track of the same name on Sigel’s 2000 album The Truth. The news was broken on Statik Selektah’s Shade 45 radio show and then confirmed via both Statik and Scarface’s Twitter accounts. “Follow the real beanie @BeanieSigelSP Mac and Brad comin soon......” Face tweeted on March 30. Both rappers have been largely quiet these last few years so understandably, fans immediately took to Twitter to share their excitement for new music. Okay, I'll admit it, I was a skeptic when I walked into see "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/471505/moviemain.jhtml"]Mirror Mirror[/url]." As someone firmly standing in[url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/03/19/snow-white-and-the-huntsman-trailer-kristen-stewart/"] the "Snow White and the Huntsman" camp[/url], I was convinced that "Mirror Mirror" was silly and unnecessary, no matter how much I love [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/242480/personmain.jhtml"]Tarsem Singh[/url]. Boy was I wrong. "Mirror Mirror" is actually a charming, light-hearted and endearing take on the Snow White fairytale. The trailers -- as many people have said before me -- really do not do the film justice. Now I not only firmly believe that "Mirror Mirror" is a movie for everyone, but I also feel like there could [i]actually[/i] be room in 2012 for two equally great Snow White movies. Who would have thought? If that wasn't enough to convince you that "Mirror Mirror" deserves your time this weekend, I've listed off five more solid reasons after the jump. [b]The Heroine[/b] "Mirror Mirror" would be nothing if it didn't have a strong Snow White. And strong she is. As she says in the trailer, Snow isn't a girl who needs to have a prince come save the day for her. It helps that [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/1091837/personmain.jhtml"]Lily Collins[/url] gives a fantastic performance as a princess coming into her own. And though [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/53471/personmain.jhtml"]Julia Roberts[/url] tends to dominate the marketing for this flick, Collins gives as good as she gets in the flick. Considering what a presence Roberts has in the film, that's saying something. [b]The Humor[/b] Ah, the "[url="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1674446/mirror-mirror-trailer-five-key-elements.jhtml"]Snow way![/url]" that started it all. Cast your fears aside: "Mirror Mirror" is actually genuinely funny, and it's hard not to laugh when Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer are playing off one another on the screen. I'll talk about this more later, but Hammer actually ends up being one of the most hilarious elements of the film. And despite the corny Snow White play on words in the trailer, the dwarves are very charming and funny as well. [b]The Look[/b] Singh's signature stamp has always been his gorgeous visual effects, and they can be seen in full force in "Mirror Mirror," albeit with a twist. They're tempered by the fact that this is a kid's fairy tale, and not an adult drama. The landscapes aren't as surreal as they are in "The Fall" and Armie Hammer's abs aren't glistening like they would be in "Immortals," but "Mirror Mirror" definitely has its charm, and fits well into Singh's filmography. [b]The Fairytale[/b] "Snow White" is a story that has been told over and over again, so the big struggle with "Mirror Mirror" was finding a way to make what is old new again. Turns out it wasn't a struggle after all. From the dwarves to the witch's red apple, "Mirror Mirror" takes the familiar elements of the Snow White fairytale and puts its own spin on it. Consider me enchanted. [b]Armie Hammer[/b] No, I'm not just saying this because Hammer is charming enough to make even the most resilient girl swoon. "The Social Network" star is flat out hilarious in "Mirror Mirror," even if he looks a bit silly in the trailers that have been released. Seriously, the man is a bonafide star, and it's got me seriously thrilled to see how he pulls off "[url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/03/08/johnny-depp-lone-ranger-photo/"]The Lone Ranger[/url]." His puppy love scene in "Mirror Mirror" is easily one of the funniest things I've seen in theaters since [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/03/19/21-jump-street-spoiler-talk-the-story-behind-that-severed-appendage/"]a certain gross-out gag[/url] in "21 Jump Street." Fear, uncertainty and doubt spread throughout the file-hosting business and millions of users were left without their files and had concerns over where to host others in the future. As outlined in our [url="http://torrentfreak.com/megaupload-alternatives-see-surge-in-traffic-after-shutdown-120126/"]earlier article[/url], in the immediate days following the shutdown alternative hosting services enjoyed an unprecedented surge in traffic, with some welcoming in hundreds of thousands of extra users. Now, just two months later, it’s clear that some are still doing well but for others including some seriously major players, it’s turned out to be a disaster. [b]The Losers[/b] For [b]Fileserve[/b], the site previously placed 7th place in our list of [url="http://torrentfreak.com/top-10-largest-file-sharing-sites-110828/"]Top 10 File-Sharing Sites of 2011[/url], the news could hardly be worse. Following a decision to change the way it operates including a temporary ban on 3rd party sharing and removal of its download rewards program, the site has lost more than half its traffic. [img]http://torrentfreak.com/images/fileservegraph.jpg[/img] The developments in January were also bad for Hong Kong-based [b]Filesonic[/b]. After completely stopping 3rd party sharing and killing their affiliate program, traffic went into a a massive nosedive. From a peak of nearly 3 million ([url="https://www.google.com/adplanner/planning/site_profile?pli=1#siteDetails?identifier=fileserve.com"]data via[/url] ) estimated daily visitors the site is now down to around just 750,000. From a standing start in 2011 they quickly grew to a peak of 1 million visitors per day, but after banning US users and closing its pay per download rewards program, traffic plunged by up to 90%. [img]http://torrentfreak.com/images/filejunglegraph.jpg[/img] It’s a similar story at [b]UploadStation[/b]. This relatively new site also removed US-user access and nuked its affiliate program. Traffic has nose-dived from nearly 1 million users per day to under 250,000. After climbing to more than 700,000 visitors per day, [b]Filepost[/b] also changed its way of doing business in January. Its traffic also nose-dived and it now receives less than 400,000 visitors per day. [b]Non-Movers[/b] [b]Hotfile[/b], placed 8th in 2011, initially enjoyed a 20% boost in traffic to roughly 1.5m daily users, but this surge was short-lived and its levels are now a token few percent lower than before the Mega shutdown. [b]FilesTube[/b], the cyberlocker meta-search engine that was placed 4th in our list last year, has had a neutral Mega-shutdown experience. Traffic levels either side of the event are comparable. [b]The Winners[/b] [b]Depositfiles[/b], a site placed 10th in the world in our 2011 list, has done very well indeed. As can be seen from the graph, since the Mega shutdown the site has more than doubled its traffic. Depostfiles is one of a decreasing group of cyberlocker services that still pays out cash to uploaders when their files are downloaded. Despite further cracking down on unauthorized sharing, the site’s traffic has grown by roughly a third. Nevertheless, the dizzy traffic heights of 2010 seem a distant dream, one that seems unlikely to return. RapidShare [url="http://torrentfreak.com/rapidshare-kills-reward-program-over-piracy-concerns-100620/"]killed their rewards[/url] program in June that year over piracy concerns. The company does not appear to have modified the way it operates and does not offer cash rewards for downloads. It is considered one of the best sites for non-premium users, hence its continued popularity. [img]http://torrentfreak.com/images/mediafire.jpg[/img] The world’s biggest file-sharing site [b]4shared[/b] has enjoyed increases of several hundred thousand visitors per day, despite killing its affiliate program in January. 4Shared’s overall traffic levels have remained fairly stable since October 2011. [img]http://torrentfreak.com/images/4sharedgraph.jpg[/img] Not being in the Top 10 list didn’t affect the positive fortunes of other sites such as [b]Uploaded.to[/b]. Despite initially disabling access to United States users, the site has done extremely well and is now pulling in nearly 2 million visitors a day, up from around 600,000. [img]http://torrentfreak.com/images/uploaded.jpg[/img] While the site has reportedly just re-enabled US-user access in recent days, Uploaded.to almost simultaneously killed its PPD (Pay Per Download) affiliate program so it’s possible that the slight dip at the end of the graph is an early sign of traffic being affected. [b]Conclusion[/b] While it seems clear that the presence of pay per download affiliate programs has the potential to affect traffic to a site, companies such as RapidShare, Mediafire and 4Shared appear to be doing well without them at the moment. That said, many sites are still running programs which pay members when users downloading their files decide to sign up for a premium account. If uploaders can make decent revenue in this way, it may encourage them to keep uploading their files as they did with pay per download models. But of course, these days millions of users are simply using their cyberlocker accounts for personal storage and a sharing between family and friends. Expect the bigger companies to spend time and money attracting more of these customers in the months to come. By Rob Markman New York, NY-- There was a packed house at New York City's Best Buy Theatre, but when Slaughterhouse took the stage on Thursday night there was a notable vacancy. Two songs into Slaughterhouse's set the quartet revealed that Jersey City rapper Joe Budden wouldn't take part in the night's festivities because he was arrested for a warrant stemming from a 2007 traffic violation. Just a few minutes after 10 p.m. Joell Ortiz opened the show when he took the stage reciting his verse to the group's fan-favorite "The Illest." Long Beach, California MC Crooked I followed, but there was a visible absence. The DJ cued up "Sound Off" next and Royce da 5'9" marched out spewing his patented Detroit venom, but with three quarters of the Slaughterhouse machine on stage, Joe Budden's absence was glaring. It was then that Slaughterhouse announced their outspoken bandmate had been arrested by the NYPD. In full support, the crowd began to shout "Joey, Joey, Joey," without any prompting from Joell, Crook or Nickel Nine. The group then went into a portion of their infamous 2011 B.E.T. Hip-Hop Award Show cypher. Joell spit his verse and then went into his solo underground gem "Hip-Hop." Budden was missed, but the now-three-headed lyrical Shady Records monster carried on. There was no "Pump It Up" or Mood Muzik verses, but Budden's band of brothers still repped performing their solo hits as well as posse cuts like "Microphone" and "Hammer Dance." That didn't stop the crowd from chanting for Joe Budden. "We love Joey too, chanting for him ain't gonna get him outta jail," Royce responded.
