While there may not have been any official "Star Wars VII" casting announcements as of yet, we now have a breakdown of the official "Star Wars VII" production crew. Joining J. J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, who are currently in the process of writing the screenplay, are director of photography Dan Mindel, sound designer Ben Burtt, production designers Rick Carter and Darren Gilford, special effects supervisor Chris Corbould and, of course, composer John Williams and producer Kathleen Kennedy.

Hopefully, now that this list of crew members is out it won't be long before we get some updates as far as "Star Wars VII" cast members go. Until then, we here at MTV News will just keep speculating as to which Star Wars Expanded Universe characters might be popping up in the new trilogy. Take Ben Skywalker for example, the son of Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker.

Who?
Hailing from the planet Coruscant, Ben Skywalker was born during the chaos that was the Yuuzhan Vong War. With both of his parents being Jedi Knights, the young Ben was raised instead by his uncle Han Solo and aunt Leia. As a result, he became very close with his cousins Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin Solo.
Eventually, Ben would become Jacen Solo's unofficial Padawan. He would study under Solo's guidance up until his cousin was converted to the Dark Side by Lumiya, Dark Lady of the Sith. During the Second Galactic Civil War, Ben would attempt to end Jacen's life via lightsaber duel on several separate occasions. Later, after Jacen's death, he would aid his father in defeating a supernatural entity called Abeloth on the planet Dathomir.

Why?
First of all, Ben is Luke Skywalker's son. If that isn't reason enough for putting him in "Star Wars VII," then we don't know what is. Secondly, he shares direct ties to Jaina and Jacen Solo who have already been rumored to be the focal point of the new trilogy. With both of these important factors in mind, we don't see how Abrams couldn't put Ben Skywalker in the new "Star Wars" movies!

How?
Since Luke Skywalker was the main protagonist of the original "Star Wars" trilogy, perhaps his son Ben could act as the main protagonist for the new trilogy. After all, it'd be interesting to see Ben growing up alongside Han and Leia while his parents are off fighting the Yuuzhan Vong and would also provide a great introduction to the characters of Jaina and Jacen Solo.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
