Joni Mitchell Awarded The Order of Canada

61 year old music legend Joni Mitchell has received Canada's biggest civilian honor, The Order of Canada.

The Order of Canada recognizes people who have made a difference to the country. Since 1967, 4000 Canadians have received the honor.

Joni Mitchell was given the honor because of her work in the music industry and her international success. Canadian Governor General Adrienne Clarkson said in a statement "From Yorkville coffeehouses to international stages and on to gold albums, Junos, Grammys and Hall of Fame inductions, she has engaged and inspired audiences and musicians for some 40 years."
