Jay-Z is still full speed ahead on all things Magna Carta Holy Grail. In his latest interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, the multi-platinum rapper recounted a four-day argument between he and Kanye during the recording process for Watch the Throne.

According to NME, ‘Ye wanted two of the tracks to end up on their 2011 collaborative album. "We had this whole plan when me and Kanye did [the] 'Watch The Throne' album that we would go right into our solos after that," Jay-Z recalls. "Soon as I thought we had wrapped up 'Watch The Throne', I made two records - I had 'Holy Grail' and 'Oceans'."

He continued, "[There were] no lyrics on 'Holy Grail' and I recorded 'Oceans' and I played those records for Kanye. And he was like, 'No those have to go on 'Watch The Throne'', so we spent four days arguing about those records and I was explaining to him why it wasn't right for this project and I had a whole idea for making this album called 'Magna Carta'... 'Holy Grail' [part of] the name came after," Jay-Z reveals. The BK rapper insisted that the argument didn’t turn nasty at all.

Since the magnanimous release of Magna Carta Holy Grail, Jay-Z has already gone platinum according to the #newrules set by RIAA and recently staged a 6 hour video shoot for “Picasso Baby” at an NYC art gallery.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
