A picture’s worth a thousand words, but in the case of 50 Cent, a picture need only be worth four: “I'm not in jail.” The G-Unit mogul took to Instagram over the weekend to offer “proof” that he wasn’t in the clink as a result of the misdemeanor domestic violence charge he incurred following a June 23 incident where he allegedly kicked down his baby’s mother’s bedroom door before allegedly kicking her, too.

“I’m not in jail I’m in my kitchen,” read one of the captions under an IG picture of 50 Cent that has since been deleted . The rapper born Curtis Jackson also released a flurry of additional images with mocking captions like, “I’m not in jail I’m in casino,” “I’m not in jail I’m on my Gucci couch” and “I’m not in jail I’m by my water fall.” See the full spread via Pigeons and Planes.

According to the LAPD, officers were called to the scene on June 23rd to investigate an altercation between 50 and his baby’s mother. The 37-year old rapper reportedly kicked down the bedroom door, kicked his baby’s mother and broke chandeliers, a TV and a lamp.

The Get Rich or Die Tryin' MC left the scene before police arrived, according to reports. He has professed his innocence via his lawyer. "Curtis Jackson denies these allegations as made against him. It is important to note, Mr. Jackson has not been arrested and there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest," 50's attorney, Scott Leemon, told MTV News in a statement last week. "We have been in contact with the LA City Attorney's Office and are currently conducting our own investigation into these allegations. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not be commenting any further at this time."

If convicted of the five charges, which include four counts of misdemeanor vandalism in addition to the misdemeanor domestic violence charge, 50 could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.

Jackson is due in court to be arraigned on July 22.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
