Looks like the third time’s the charm for Wale. After putting in work for years, first with Interscope, then with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, the DMV rapper's third studio album, The Gifted, lives up to its name and delivers the Washington, D.C. native the best present ever: his first ever No. 1 album on the Billboard 200.

“Today is a day I want my fans to be extra. proud. We have the #1 album in the country!! Came a long way and still goin. So grateful!” he tweeted Tuesday (July 2).

The numbers aren’t officially in, but it looks like the "Bad (Remix)" MC will claim top billing for pushing over 150,000 units of his latest opus. Last week’s top seller, Kanye West’s Yeezus, will fall to the #3 spot and last week’s #2, J. Cole’s Born Sinner, will stand pat for runner up honors again.

Wale is certain to celebrate his moment on top with all of his fans and supporters, but he immediately thanked Rozay, who believed in him and let him have free reign to be his artistic self.

“@rickyrozay thank you for believing in my vision!!! That's how u GM the team!!! #Mastermind #doubleMgenius,” he tweeted.

Ross retweeted Wale’s message of gratitude and thanked the supporters of MMG.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
