Listen to a New Version of "Soul Meets Body", Featuring Ben Gibbard, From The Electronic Anthology Project of Death Cab for Cutie

The latest installment of the Electronic Anthology Project-- in which Built to Spill's Brett Nelson reimagines electronic versions of indie favorites-- features new renditions of Death Cab For Cutie songs. The release, which is available in digital fomat tomorrow (and on 7" vinyl in early August), includes Death Cab's "Soul Meets Body" from 2005's Plans, and "Champagne From a Paper Cup", from 1998's Something About Airplanes.

For the project (which featured Dinosaur Jr. last time around), Nelson teamed up with Ben Gibbard for new wave covers of the songs. He sent Gibbard five demos, of which Gibbard selected two and contributed new vocal tracks. Check out their new rendition of "Soul Meets Body", above.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
