The 2013 BET Awards took over Los Angeles on Sunday night (June 30) with a lineup of performances that included Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar and Erykah Badu, J. Cole and Miguel, R. Kelly, Robin Thicke (with Pharrell and T.I.), Ciara, 2 Chainz (with A$AP Rocky and Kendrick) two cameos from Nicki Minaj, a Charlie Wilson tribute performance from Justin Timberlake...and not to mention the reggae set that resurrected Beenie Man and Elephant Man and made Nicki Minaj lose her mind dancing in the audience.

Generations of R&B were bridged tonight as Justin Timberlake and Charlie Wilson performed together on the 2013 BET Awards. After presenting The Gap Band singer with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Justin, Pharrell and Snoop Lion paid homage to Charlie with an all-star rendition of "Signs" followed by songs like "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" and "Girl You Knock Me Out." Reggae Set with Elephant Man and Beenie Man

The tagline for the 2013 BET Awards was "anything can happen" and the show stayed true to form. A full-on Caribbean music tribute took place at the show's end with fan favorites like Beenie Man with "Who Am I," Dawn Penn who performed "No, No No" and "Murder She Wrote" by Chaka Demus and Pliers. When Elephant Man jumped on stage for "Pon Di River," though, even Nicki Minaj, who was sitting in the audience, couldn't resist getting her dance on.

Kendrick Lamar Performs With Erykah Badu BET Awards

Kendrick Lamar kicked off Sunday night's 2013 BET Awards with one of the show's most highly-anticipated performances. K. Dot began with "M.A.A.d City" and then transitioned into "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe." On the latter, he was accompanied by a saxophone and the talented Erykah Badu.

R. Kelly Surprises With Medley Of Hits At BET Awards

It was a blast from the past on Sunday night when R. Kelly touched down on the BET Awards stage with a surprise performance. Outfitted in a spiked-filled ensemble, the self-proclaimed "King of R&B" showed us just why he's been a fan favorite for so long. Kellz opened with a choir singing his hits acapella and then went into "I Wish," "When A Woman's Fed Up," "Ignition (Remix)" and more.

Nicki Minaj Joins Ciara At BET Awards For 'Im Out' Performance

Ciara brought out Nicki Minaj for an assist on their collaboration "I'm Out" on the 2013 BET Awards on Sunday night (June 30). In printed pants and a see-through button down, Ciara gave a high-energy performance full of her trademark dance moves and chiseled abs. The singer then turned up the sexy with her "Body Party."

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
