Kanye West seems to be the master of good timing...even when he's not exactly controlling the situation.  Just before his highly anticipated Yeezus album dropped, Kanye and girlfriend Kim Kardashian welcomed their first child together. Art often imitates life for Kanye. In celebration of the happy couple, we scoured through the lyrics of Yeezus to see what KimYe references, name-checks and subliminals we could find.

“Black Skinhead”
“They see a black man with a white woman/At the top floor they gone come to kill King Kong”: In this line, Kanye seems to be implying that mainstream America is not ready for his interracial and inter-ethnic relationship with the Armenian-American Kim.

“I’m In It”
“Damn your lips very soft/As I turn my Blackberry off/And I turn your bath water on/And you turn off your iPhone”: This entire song is about a special lady, presumably Kim Kardashian. The song opens with Kanye complimenting her gorgeous face. Kim does have very nice looking lips.

“Uh, she cut from a different textile”: In addition to being unique, the “textile” reference works on Kim who is a fashionista and designer.

“On Sight”
“And I know she like chocolate men/She got more n----s off than Cochran, huh?”: Kim’s father, the late Robert Kardashian, was famously OJ Simpson’s lawyer along with Johnnie Cochran back in 1995. The dynamic duo got the NFL legend acquitted of murder charges.

“Bound 2”

“One good girl is worth a thousand bitches”: ‘Nuff said. Kanye has had his fair share of women, but one good Kim is worth much more. The entire song could be interpreted as an ode to her.

“Maybe we could still make it to the church steps/But first, you gon' remember how to forget”: If Kim and Kanye forget their respective exes, wedding bells could be in their future. We can only cross our fingers and wait.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
