J. Cole Tributes His Mom Kay Cole In Born Sinner Series

As we enter the weeks leading up to the release of his sophomore album Born Sinner, J.Cole launches a new series on the site BornSinner.com, which will pay tribute to those who have been influential in his life. Not surprisingly, the Roc Nation rapper began with his mother Kay Cole, a former military veteran, who eventually became a postal worker and was finally able to retire recently.

"Far from the richest rapper, but my biggest personal achievement thus far in my life has been retiring my mom early from her job at the Post Office. It's a tiny payback for the sacrifices she made that allowed me to chase a far-fetched dream of becoming a successful artist. I'm forever grateful," J. Cole tells fans.

In the touching video clip which finds his mother at her last day on the job, she tells the camera, "I've had so many people say, 'Oh, all you do is ride around all day.' I am constantly moving. I'm lifting or twisting or walking or stepping up. It's constant movement."

"I don't have to deliver mail anymore! It just hit me," she adds as the moment really sinks in.
