Following the successful Austrian tour in April, local band Corkskrew will be heading abroad once again, this time to give a live performance in the French capital, Paris. Corkskrew's concert will be held on 22 September at the Jean Monnet Foyer International d'Accueil de Paris (FIAP), an international welcoming centre that promotes cultural and international exchange.

Corkskrew are taking part in the series of events (concerts, exhibitions and presentations) being organised by the Maltese Embassy in Paris on the occasion of Malta's accession to the European Union as well as to mark the 40th anniversary of Malta's Independence on 21st September.

This is the second time this year that Corkskrew performed abroad. In April, the band toured Austria and performed seven gigs in a number of venues in Vienna, Salzburg and Tulln.

"Corkskrew is one of Malta's top acts and we are proud that the band will be in Paris to perform to the French people and visitors from all over Europe," Malta's Ambassador in France Salvino Busuttil said.

On their return from Paris, Corkskrew will finish off work on their second CD album, which will be released in a few months time. The CD will mark the band's departure from a pop/electronica-sounding outfit to a more rock-oriented sound. Fans can follow up on Corkskrew's developments leading to the release of the first album single and CD release by logging on the band's official website www.corkskrew.net

Meanwhile, Corkskrew will be performing live in Malta at the Indifest, Granaries (Fosos) Floriana on Friday 17 September.

Corkskrew are supported by BoV Club, Air Malta, the Malta Tourism Authority and J&S Trading.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
