These leakers can’t hold me back. It’s a stretch, but it's not too hard to imagine that that’s probably the amended Rick Ross verse Kid Cudi is singing today after his third solo album, Indicud, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, moving 136,000 units despite the entire album leaking online two weeks ago.

“THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT WENT OUT AND SUPPORTED INDICUD!! I COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITH OUT ANY OF YOU! WE DID IT!” Cudi tweeted after hearing the news. “I LOVE YOU ALL, AND IM SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE SUCH LOYAL FANS THAT CARE FOR ME AND WANT ME TO WIN. VERY VERY HAPPY! MISSION IMPOSSIBLE ACCOMPLISHED... MAD LOVE TO @falloutboy AND THE HOMIE @petewentz AND CONGRATS ON KILLIN IT ONE MORE TIME! IM IN GOOD COMPANY AT THE TOP!”

The WZRD MC’s true fans purchased the set, even though many of them listened to it for free, giving it rave reviews. The album’s release date was pushed up a week to counterbalance the leak, and Cudi, showing that he was still an artist of the people, even took to Twitter with a light-hearted reaction to it all, tweeting, “I aint trippin bout my album leakin. Im the best. Love it. April 23. Enjoy. And rage responsibly >:)

The former G.O.O.D. Music rapper/singer/producer is more than ecstatic about his recent success considering that he’s jumped out on faith and moved on from the safe confines of Kanye West’s label to form his own venture, Wicked Awesome Records, and is still moving the meter in hip-hop his way.  â€œ#1 Hip Hop album, #2 in the country. Old blue eyes my ni--- "I did it my way" – Hov,” Cudi tweeted.

In the curious case of Cudi, looks like old Bill Shakespeare was right: all’s well that ends well.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
