Beyonce ‘Back To Black’ Cover: Amy Winehouse’s Father Not Impressed

Earlier this week, it was announced that Beyoncé would be covering Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” alongside Outkast’s Andre 3000 for The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Her feature came as no surprise being that her husband, Jay-Z, is the executive producer but the news did surprise the late singer’s father, Mitch Winehouse.

According to Huffington Post, Winehouse took to Twitter to express his thoughts about Beyoncé covering his late daughter’s song. “First I have heard about Beyoncé and Back to Black. Sounds like some of you don't like the idea. Let me repeat. This is the first I have heard of Beyoncé doing Amys song.”

Seemingly unimpressed with the idea, he thought it would be better if she donated to their foundation. “I don't know this but what if Beyoncé gave £100,000 to foundation. Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there.”

According to an unnamed source from Interscope Records, Beyonce and Andre 3K’s collaboration will have “a very different take on ‘Back to Black.”

This week, on top of this year, has already shaped up to be a great one for Beyonce. From celebrating her five-year wedding anniversary in Cuba to preparing for her Mrs. Carter World Tour, she had the world at ease when she released a new Pepsi commercial that featured new music.
