Speakerbox was established in 2009 by Radio 1 & 1Xtra’s new music master MistaJam to support and champion exciting first rate cutting edge new talent alongside more established players. After the success of the first Speakerbox and LWE collaboration at the start of February, we are pleased to announce the next show.

Benga
MistaJam
+ guests to be announced

One of the original Dubstep pioneers, Benga has been monumental in taking an underground UK sound to an international audience, watching it mutate and influence everything it’s touched. A core member of the Bass music movement, it is hard to put into words exactly how much he has done for the scene. Achieving success as a solo artist whilst selling out venues worldwide with the dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man; he comes to the show on the eve of the release of his long awaited genre diverse sophomore album ‘Chapter Two’.

Forget trying to nail MistaJam to a genre for he’s a DJ who’s from the school of thought where only those who’ve perfected the art of mixing need apply. Known for his passion for quality new music across the genres and his high octane DJ sets, MistaJam’s first gig was when he was aged 14 at Manchester’s legendary Hacienda. Fast-forward to 2013 and Jam is regarded as one of the go-to tastemakers for new music on British national radio. However, as Shy FX eloquently put ““A lot of radio DJ’s flop in the real world… MistaJam’s proved he’s NOT one of those DJ’s… No hype, just fact.”

More acts TBA

The venue we have selected for this will be the Oval Space, situated in Bethnal Green, and set over the backdrop of the old gas works.

This venue as a limited capacity and we expect this to be one of the hottest tickets in town.

Advanced Tickets: £15 to £20 + bf

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
