Halliburton sues 3 over retiree complaints

Associated Press

HOUSTON (AP) - Halliburton Co. is suing three retired executives who complained about a company plan to stop providing health insurance for retirees eligible for Medicare.

The lawsuit was filed after the retirees, including former Halliburton vice president of human resources Paul Bryant, sent a letter to company officials to complain about the change. Bryant, 58, retired from the oil services conglomerate in 1999.

Halliburton spokeswoman Zelma Branch said the company sued so the dispute would be resolved quickly, allowing the retirees to arrange for their own medical coverage.

Wolfie, check out page 12, column 2 of the Dick Cheney Employee Relations manual...it plainly states that Haliburton reserves the right, if it gets half a chance, to save money by denying health care to retirees, preferably seriously ill ones.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
