Action! Beyonce has announced that she'll be serving fans with yet another look into her fabulous life, describing her upcoming HBO special as both “vibrant” and “vulnerable." The feature-length piece, which Bey will direct and executive produce herself will air on the network in February 2013.

"Everybody knows Beyoncé's music, but few know Beyoncé the person," added Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming. "Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman."

The special will include both personal footage, some of which was shot by Beyoncé on her laptop, along with the addition of home movies of the superstar growing up Houston. The storyline will follow her from early childhood throughout her journey to becoming a pop star, and now, as she plots life after the after the birth of daughter Blue Ivy early this year.

"HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity," Beyoncé said in a statement about the February 16 special. "Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home." The special will debut just days after Beyonce gives her first halftime performance at Super Bowl XLVI.
