Based on the violent international trailer we saw for "Django Unchained" yesterday and the movie's new international poster, we can pretty much assume that this movie is going to end with an epic showdown where Jamie Foxx's Django and Christoph Waltz's Dr. King Schultz face off against Leonardo DiCaprio's Calvin Candie.

We doubt we're the only ones getting this vibe. The new poster practically promises a big battle, with Django and Schultz teamed up together on the right while Candie lingers forebodingly on the left side of the image. It doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to assume that the red circle Candie's face is in promises plenty of blood and violence.

From what we've seen of Quentin Tarantino's latest, a good portion of "Django Unchained" will be a buddy film (albiet a violent and R-rated one) featuring Django and Schultz. That's something we can't wait to see, since Foxx and Waltz look like they have fantastic chemistry in this movie. Of course, things will get a bit messy when Calvin Candie enters the mix, though DiCaprio looks like he's going to make a fantastic villain.

"Django Unchained" follows Django (Foxx) as he seeks to rescue his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from the men who captured her. He teams up with Dr. King Schultz (Waltz), a bounty hunter who enlists him to help him catch his quarry before they go on to find Django's wife. Their hunt leads them to a plantation called "Candyland," run by the delightfully villainous Calvin Candie (DiCaprio). Based on what we know about the project, things spiral quickly out of control from that point onwards. The film is due in theaters on Christmas Day.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
