(Mariah denies beefing with Nicki)

By Carolyn Amurao

Before the alleged death threats, heated Twitter debates, judging feuds and all of the other nasty drama currently existing between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, the "American Idol" judges’ relationship might've been strained to begin with.According to TMZ Minaj was apparently “supremely disrespectful” to Carey back in 2010 when they shot the video for “Up Out My Face” together.

At the time of the video, which features both stars in matching outfits, laughing and sipping champagne, Carey felt that she was helping to launch Minaj’s career, TMZ reported. But even though Carey was paired up with a then less-famous Minaj, she had no ego on set. “Mariah went out of her way to be nice to Nicki and make her comfortable,” internet celebrity B. Scott told TMZ. B. Scott appeared in the video and said that the rapper, on the other hand, was “making faces at her laced with rude comments under her breath.”

However, a source close to Minaj told TMZ that Scott is a liar because “he works as Mariah’s stunt double and of course he would say things like that. He’s worked with her for years.” But whether or not B. Scott’s account is true, Minaj came out of the video shoot with amiable feelings towards the “Shake It Off” singer.

She told MTV News back in February 2010 that they were cracking jokes the whole day. She also had nothing but nice things to about her. "When I met her, she was so funny and silly," Minaj recalled. "She's a sweet, down-to-earth person." The rapper even admitted that she is (or was) a huge fan of Carey’s. “She's an icon; I've loved her since I was little, like 'Vision of Love,' 'Someday.' I was one of those little girls in the mirror singing her songs with my mother.”

Well, fast forward about two years from those kind words to find an explosive show of drama that some believe has been staged to boost ratings. However, maybe the beef did start back in 2010 in which case this Carey vs. Minaj war has been brewing all along.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
