Tweets from Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran seemed to be pointing to this news, and on Thursday (October 4) Brown confirmed that he and his girlfriend have split, just as he and Rihanna have been spotted hanging out all over NYC.

"I have decided to be single to focus on my career," Breezy said in a statement issued to MTV News via his label rep. "I love Karrueche very much but I don't want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna."

The statement comes after Brown and Rihanna were spotted on Wednesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, watching the fifth of Jay-Z's eight homecoming shows. "Both r Free from it all," Chris cryptically tweeted that night.

Tran also took to the social networking site to drop what looks to be a subliminal as well. "Bye baby," she wrote referencing Nas' breakup single for his latest Life is Good LP.

The split doesn't necessarily mean that Chris and Rih Rih are an item, however. Earlier this week, the two former lovers were seen partying together at a club in New York's meatpacking district. Still despite all the speculation, Breezy maintains that he is on his own for now. "I'd rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives," he said in the statement regarding his breakup with Tran.

Chris Brown and the "We Found Love" singer began dating as teens and become one of entertainment's most intriguing couples. But in 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna before that year's Grammys and was even issued a restraining order to stay away from his ex. Through the years, rumors of a rekindled flame between the two have swirled, especially when they reunited musically for a pair of remixes earlier this year. But as of now, Rihanna and Brown maintain they are just friends.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
