Though the idea of pairing Seth Rogen with Barbara Streisand might at first glance seem like a strange one, it turns out that these two are actually a match made in heaven. The duo plays a mother and son in the new comedy "The Guilt Trip," and the first clip from the film proves that these two do that relationship justice.

The scene in question sets up the basic premise for the movie: Rogen is an inventor who invites his mother, played by Streisand, to join him on a cross-country road trip to try to sell his new creation. His real motive for bringing her, though, is to try to reunite her with her lost love. Hilarity and plenty of guilt-tripping are sure to ensue from that point on.

"The Proposal" helmer Anne Fletcher is directing the movie based on a script written by Dan Fogelman (yes, the same man who inspired Fogel in "Superbad"). That pairing is almost as exciting as Rogen and Streisand's, but we're equally as thrilled about the movie's supporting cast. Adam Scott, Yvonne Strahovski, Colin Hanks, Danny Pudi and Dale Dickey round out the film, and if that's not an ensemble then we don't know what is.

During our recent conversation with Ari Graynor, we discovered that the actress -- who also has a small role in the movie -- is more excited to see it than pretty much anyone else in the world.

"I can't talk too much about it, but I will just say that being in the same zip code as Barbra Streisand is like you know… There isn't a bigger dream come true," she said. "It was really exciting. The script for that movie is genius. It's a road trip movie with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand as son and mother. Like what could be better? Literally nothing, that the answer. Nothing could better."

"The Guilt Trip" comes out on December 25.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
