A Joke For New Year's Day

Just before local bars closed at 2:00 AM on New Year's Day, two police officers parked their car about a block away ... certain they'd be able to nab one of the patrons for DUI. At 2:00 AM, patrons began to leave the bar and the cops watched closely. One patron caught their attention immediately. He was staggering down the sidewalk, fell down once, got up, walked to a parked car where he dropped his keys, picked them up ... and then, after he finally got inside and pulled away from the curb. the police turned on their lights and sirens to give chase.

The man pulled over to the curb immediately. One officer left the patrol car and asked the man to get out. Then, he asked the man to blow into a roadside breathalyzer. The results were 0.0. Then, he asked the man to close his eyes and touch his nose with each pointer-finger. The man did this without error. Then, he asked the man to walk the center-line heel-to-toe. Again, the man did this without error. Finally the cop lost it.

"I just don't understand it. I watched you staggering out of that bar ... yet you passed every sobriety test I gave you. What gives?"

"I'm totally sober, officer," the man replied. "But you see, tonight I was the designated decoy."

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
