If you noticed Lil Wayne rocking his custom red Beats by Dr. Dre headphones while he sat front row at the MTV Video Music Awards last week and wondered how you could grab a pair, the wait won't be much longer.

“Was bangin dat Future & Bob Marley in the lil tunechi Beats, btw,” the New Orleans rapper tweeted from the show on Thursday night.

Weezy performed at the VMAs alongside fellow rapper and longtime friend 2 Chainz last Thursday, and when the YMCMB star took the stage he was wearing his custom red “lil tunechi” Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Lil Wayne has always been a big supporter of Beats, most notably sporting  a million-dollar, diamond-encrusted pair at 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend, so it seemed only natural that he would eventually release his own custom line.

On Friday night, Wayne celebrated with the likes of Dr. Dre, Wiz Khalifa, French Montana and many more to launch his custom line at Playhouse night club in Hollywood. Reps from Beats confirmed to RapFix that Wayne's red pro headphones will be on sale for a limited time in mid October directly through the company, while another set of Wayne-branded headphones in a red and black color scheme will debut at the same time, but will be available through other retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy.

Wayne is a very busy man at the moment. He unveiled his Trukfit clothing line earlier this year, followed by the official launch of his Supra sneaker line in Las Vegas last month. But don't worry, he hasn't forgotten about the music. Dedication 4 also dropped last week and it's even got Obama talking.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
