We may have a ways to go before the girl on fire returns to Panem, but this fall, you can catch the woman who played Katniss Everdeen, [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/1015040/personmain.jhtml"]Jennifer Lawrence[/url], in a different role that's sure to generate buzz.

From the Academy Award-nominated director of "The Fighter," David O. Russell, comes "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/486477/moviemain.jhtml"]Silver Linings Playbook[/url]," which stars Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.

Official synopsis:

[indent][i]Life doesn’t always go according to plan…Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) has lost everything -- his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother (Jacki Weaver) and father (Robert DeNiro) after spending eight months is a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet - and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he'll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives..[/i]

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
