The NFL pulled out the big guns to launch their 2013 season, calling on Mariah Carey and Queen Latifah to help kick things off. The show began with Mariah’s mini pre-game performance (she was joined by MMG)and followed with Queen Latifah singing her own rendition of the national anthem.

Prior to the Cowboys taking the win against last season’s Super Bowl Champs, Mariah Carey graced the stage at New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza performing “Triumphant” along with Rick Ross and Meek Mill. In her “Kickoff Special” performance the diva also followed with a few other songs and even projected a short video she filmed for the occasion as well.

Over at Met Life Stadium, in her home state of New Jersey, Queen Latifah was joined by a choir, putting her own jazzy touch on the Star-Spangled Banner. And as if the remix was not enough of a special addition, three black hawk helicopters and fireworks also popped up in Queen’s performance. Queen’s rendition, which received an array of reviews was only enhanced with a catchy beat as the words and the tempos remained in original structure.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
