Beyonce celebrates her 31st birthday today. Celebrity friends and family members sent their well wishes for the superstar singer, posted on her website. "God blessed me with one of the greatest gifts in my life on Sept 4, 1981" shares her mother while husband Jay-Z's mom (Mama Carter) adds "You came into my life a sweet Southern girl (LOL). You've blossomed into an amazing woman. I admire how you remain grounded and humble and haven't let success change the person that you are."

Best friend Gwyneth Paltrow and her family write, "For dear sweet BB on the occasion of her 31st birthday...We love you so very much."

Stemming from her day of birth, the number "4" has held significance in Beyonce's life and career in several ways. The title of her fourth studio album is 4 and both she and Jay-Z reportedly have matching tattoos on their ring fingers of the Roman numeral for four, "IV" (Jay-Z was also born on the fourth of December). Many also speculate that "IV" inspired part of the couple's daughter's name "Ivy."

Beyonce spent this weekend with Jay-Z in Philadelphia for his Made in America festival. The much-anticipated concert unfolded in the downtown area of the city of Brotherly Love, giving fans a day of musical performances from a range of acts that included Janelle Monae, soul singer D'Angelo, Skrillex and Jay Electronica. The second day included performances from Drake, Rita Ora and Pearl Jam. Beyonce was on hand enjoying both days.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
