Stevie Wonder: Frank Ocean Could Be 'Confused' About Sexuality

When Frank Ocean revealed that his first love was with a man, seemingly everyone in the music world had an opinion, and they're still rolling in nearly two months after the release of his debut album. The most recent artist to sound-off is legendary songwriter and clear Ocean influence Stevie Wonder, who implied the Odd Future crooner might be more confused than homosexual.

Wonder was asked for his thoughts on Ocean and his album Channel ORANGE by The Guardian when he dropped his opinion on homosexuality. "I think honestly, some people who think they're gay, they're confused," said Wonder. "People can misconstrue closeness for love. People can feel connected, they bond."

Wonder went on to add that this didn't necessarily apply directly to Ocean or to all homosexuals. "I'm not saying all [gay people are confused]. Some people have a desire to be with the same sex. But that's them."

Ocean's announcement has, if anything, only been a plus for the success of Channel ORANGE. The album debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard charts, selling 131,000 copies in its first week. Subsequent critical adoration has earned Ocean a performance on the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live," as well as a coveted spot at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.
