'Mad Max: Fury Road' Set Photos Tease The Post-Apocalypse

It looks like things are going to get worse before they get better for the characters in "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/438511/moviemain.jhtml"]Mad Max: Fury Road[/url]."

A batch of set photos have hit the web courtesy of [url="%20http://cinecommunity.org/showthread.php?p=334985#post334985"]CineCommunity[/url] (via [url="http://collider.com/mad-max-4-fury-road-images/190109/"]Collider[/url]) and they tease a very extreme-looking post-apocalyptic world. The images mostly show the vehicles that will be driven during the movie as well as some of the props and costumes, but together they give us an idea of the world that Mad Max will be inhabiting. And it's not very pretty.



The coolest elements of these photos are definitely the vehicles. We love the whole old-meets-apocalypse vibe of the cars, as well as the fact that they're loaded with heavy artillery. The above image, which looks to be a pick-up truck mixed with a backhoe that's covered in rusty spikes, seems to be the War Rig driven by Charlize Theron's character Imperator Furiosa.

We don't know much about the "Max Mad" film beyond the fact that it [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/05/24/charlize-theron-mad-max-fury-road-start-date/"][i]finally[/i][/url] started filming at the beginning of last month and is being directed by series creator [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/173913/personmain.jhtml"]George Miller[/url]. In a [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/08/16/mad-max-plot-details/"]recent press release[/url], he offered his own take on the movie.

"Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa," Miller said. "This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived."

Tom Hardy stars as Mad Max while Charlize Theron is Imperator Furiosa. In addition, we've learned Nicholas Hoult plays Nux and Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley play the group of women known as The Wives.
