Buckets of blood, swatches of blood, and… blood. Everything's as it should be on the set of "Carrie," according to some photos at Dread Central. A reader snapped some unofficial images full of the red stuff. While we can't see any of the gore in action, it's a great look at the way things are being developed behind the scenes for the 2013 remake of Stephen King's classic horror tale and Brian De Palma’s 1976 film. "Carrie" is being directed by Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don’t Cry") and stars Chloë Moretz as the awkward teen covered in pig's blood at the prom. She uses her telekinetic powers to get revenge on those who tormented her. Yay, high school!

First Cut of 'World War Z' Featured Less Than an Hour of Footage
Oh, "World War Z." It wouldn't be a week without some kind of troubling news about your production. THR recently reported that the post-apocalyptic film based on the novel by Max Brooks and starring Brad Pitt didn't deliver on its first cut. The film has been moved to 2013, and here's a big reason why:

"On 'World War Z,' writer Damon Lindelof was brought in to do a third act, but after figuring out how much additional work was needed, he handed the project off to collaborator Drew Goddard. Sources say Paramount execs only had 52 minutes of continuous footage cut together to show them, along with a few minutes of other action. The film is said to be gearing up for a seven-week reshoot in London."

Will this movie ever see the light of day, and will we care when it finally does?

First Clip from Supernatural Tale 'The Possession'
There's nothing like a haunted box and a parasitic, malevolent spirit to bring a family closer together. "The Possession" sees a young girl become strangely obsessed with an antique box, which slowly starts to transform her. Eventually the family learns that the box contains a dibbuk, which is a restless spirit that inhabits its human host and devours them whole. We get a taste (sorry!) for how that works in this new clip from the film. Hungry for more? The film haunts theaters August 31.

New 'Lords of Salem' Poster Features Sheri Moon
With Rob Zombie's background in art, we expect everything he touches to boast killer visuals. Zombie's been channeling his inner Picasso with a "blue series" of posters for his upcoming witchfest, "The Lords of Salem." This new poster is the second one-sheet and features wife and "Lords" star Sheri Moon with a pagan makeover. Like Fangoria, we hope this means a trailer is heading our way soon so we can start to piece together the story about a 300-year-old coven of witches descending on the Massachusetts town.

Gory Clip Invites Guests to Eli Roth's Goretorium
What has director Eli Roth been up to? Preparing to invite victims to his gory horror hotel in Las Vegas. A trailer premiered for the world's first Goretorium where Roth's penchant for bloodshed is in full effect, adapted for a self-guided horror experience. High-tech Vegas showmanship meets old-fashioned scares in a terrifying labyrinth of gruesome sights. Find out more about Eli Roth's Goretorium on the official webiste, but first, enjoy this graphic peek at the attraction in the clip. It's filled with the "Hostel" filmmaker's signature brand of twisted, dark humor.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
