'Deep Throat' Movie Still In Works, Jay Roach Says

[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/191106/personmain.jhtml"]Jay Roach[/url], a director who made a name for himself on the charms of dick jokes in the "Austin Powers" series, has appropriately enough become HBO's go-to guy for contemporary political dramas. Though Roach is back in the realm of comedy with "[url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2010/12/06/will-ferrell-zach-galifianakis-political-comedy-2012-presidential-election/"]The Campaign[/url]," he isn't straying that far from his recent place in politics and his upcoming projects look to continue that trend.

Aside from "K Blows Top," starring Paul Giamatti as Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, Roach has been planning his next move back into the political drama for some time. For a while now, the director has been toying with a film about Mark Felt, the former FBI associate director who used the alias "Deep Throat" to leak the Watergate scandal.



When MTV News spoke with Roach about "The Campaign," he offered this update about the project.

"We have continued to talk about that Watergate story, about Mark Felt, the guy that was Deep Throat," he said. "Tom Hanks' company is still kicking around with me. There are some other equally as hilarious subjects as Watergate that I'm very interested in. I'd like to be able to look at some serious things as well as the comedies."

We'll have to wait and see what becomes of Roach's Deep Throat project, but with Tom Hank's company involved, we're eager to see if something happens.
