Young Buck Begins 18-Month Prison Sentence

After being sentenced to three years in prison back on July 13 for possessing weapons while being a convicted felon, rapper Young Buck checked-in to prison today. He is only expected to serve 18 months as per a judge's orders at the time of sentencing.

The former G-Unit rapper reportedly arrived at Yazoo City Medium Security Federal Prison in Southern Mississippi to begin serving his sentence today (August 6). The stint is the result of a 2010 raid, which found federal agents storming Buck's home and finding multiple guns, including a .40 caliber Glock 22. Because Buck, real name David Darnell Brown, is a previously convicted felon, the raid triggered an immediate parole violation with automatic prison time.

It's been a rough road for Buck since his glory days atop the charts with 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and crew. Upon sentencing, Buck was actually thankful for the judge cutting him some slack by knocking the initial sentence down to 18 months. "With the judge not considering my history to subtract some time, I'm just thankful for what time I do have," he told MSNBC at the time.

It was only two weeks ago, in late July, that a $300,000 tax bill led the IRS to auction off the rapper's belongings to pay his debts.
