There are two things to be learned from the great full-length trailer (via Yahoo! Movies) for Liam Neeson's upcoming sequel, "Taken 2."

1) Bryan Mills' daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace), is about to take up the family trade.

2) Bryan Mills doesn't really learn lessons from kidnappings. Even after pointing out that killing this movie's bad guy will probably result in a third movie and kidnapping, he is unfazed.

It's great to have Neeson back in the kind of role that's given him a renaissance in recent years. Plus, if "Taken 2" works out the way we think it will, "Taken 3" shouldn't be too far behind.

Perhaps our favorite part of the trailer comes when Neeson is explaining to Rade Serbedzija that if he kills him, the cycle will just continue. It seems like Bryan is having a moment of clarity about the vicious cycle of revenge, but then he says, "Screw that." Awesome.

Directed by Olivier Megaton, the October 5 release stars Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen, Rade Sherbedgia and Luke Grimes.

Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
