Two of the most anticipated films of 2013 are welcoming some big name actors, just in time to start filming.

Martin Scorsese's next film, "The Wolf of Wall Street," just gained another one of our favorite actors, John Favreau. The film is an adaptation of Jordan Belfort's memoir of the same name, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort, a stockbroker indicted for security fraud and money laundering in 1998. Favreau joins up as a securities lawyer alongside an impressive supporting cast, which includes last year's Oscar winner for Best Actor Jean Dujardin, Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler and Rob Reiner (we could go on).

In other casting news, it seems that Hollywood's A-List can't stay away from Jose Padilha's re-make of the 1987 classic, "Robocop." Earlier this week, we reported that Jay Baruchel could potentially join the flick, and details are now surfacing about the role he could play. Heat Vision is reporting that "Baruchel will play the head of marketing for OmniCorp, the company that is building the police cyborg." If Baruchel signs on board he would join Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman in the film, which begins shooting in Toronto this September and is slated for a summer 2013 release date.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
