"You think that Jason Bourne was the whole story?"

By now, it's clear that he's not. But Universal Pictures want to make sure that they're making that message clear in the three new TV spots the studio just released for "The Bourne Legacy" (via TheMovieBox.net). No, Bourne wasn't the whole story because there's also Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), an Outcome experiment who has had two altered chromosomes but is "not just a science project." Those two elements and the fact that Cross is out for revenge seems to be all anyone needs to know about the upcoming movie.

Of course, that's sort of all we want to know as well. The "Bourne" movies are fun because we can never quite figure out what they're all about until they're over, and we're glad Universal is (hopefully) keeping most of the major plot points close to their chest.

In a recent interview, Renner explained what sets Cross apart from his predecessor.

"[Cross is] coming from a completely different background to Jason [Bourne]. He knows exactly who he is; he signed up to this," Renner explained. "He wants to be part of a team. I can tell you he was in the military then he joined the [program]. He's a person who wants to be part of something... to have a sense of purpose. But then it's taken away."

"The Bourne Legacy" comes out August 10.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
