Get your Fedoras and whips ready, because the Blu-Ray collection of the "Indiana Jones" films is officially coming out September 18.

Lucasfilm and Paramount Home Media Distribution sent out a press release today making the big announcement. The complete collection will include "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Temple of Doom," "The Last Crusade" and "Kingdoms of the Crystal Skull" in their best versions yet.

"Supervised by director Steven Spielberg and renowned sound designer Ben Burtt, 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' has been meticulously restored with careful attention to preserving the original look, sound and feel of the iconic film," the press release reads. "The original negative was first scanned at 4K and then examined frame-by-frame so that any damage could be repaired."

The sound design has also been preserved using Burtt's "original master mix." The Blu-Ray collection will include surround sound capabilities and the dialogue has been improved in these versions, so at least you have the comfort of knowing that you'll be getting the best "Indiana Jones" editions available.

In addition to that, there are going to be the usual special features that come along with any complete series collection. The press release didn't announce any specific details, but did promise "a collection of documentaries, featurettes and new bonus features."

Make sure you snatch these up fast, though it likely won't be the "complete" collection for very long. After all, Shia LaBeouf promised us last year that "Indiana Jones 5" is "not so far off."

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
