Bill Murray Offers Bummer ‘Ghostbusters 3’ Update

We hoped when [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/91861/personmain.jhtml"]Bill Murray[/url] appeared on [url="http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show/video/?pid=h3ulbnHOI4oDMYRfTeboxXOqmjo8qA_r"]"The Late Show with David Letterman"[/url] earlier in the week that he might have something important to say about "Ghostbusters 3," but the funnyman didn't throw us much of a bone about the possible horror-comedy. When host Dave asked about the film, which mastermind Dan Aykroyd has been trying to get off the ground for some time now, Murray had this to say:

"That's about all they want to know at Cannes, too... But, um... They just don't have a really good script. It's hard. Even the second 'Ghostbusters' wasn't as much fun for me as the first one. It's hard to make a sequel. That first one was really funny. It was just so darn funny, it's hard for me... I always drag my feet on it, but you know, we'll try again."

Hawke plays a novelist who tries to solve the crime — and is that "Law & Order's" Vincent D'Onofrio as a bearded occult specialist helping him? The supernatural chills come from the producer of "Paranormal Activity" and the writer-director of "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" on October 5.

[b]The History of Troubled Zombie Epic 'World War Z'[/b]
In case you're wondering what happened to that adaptation of Max Brooks' zombie opus "World War Z" starring Brad Pitt, [url="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/brad-pitt-world-war-z-production-nightmare-336422"]THR[/url] has a few details to help fill in the blanks. Production was rocky for the apocalyptic epic, which was set to release this December, but has since been pushed to June 2013. One inside source claims the project was a "nightmare from top to bottom" — and we don't mean the kind of undead ordeal horror fans love. Multiple sources told THR that "World War Z" became "a seemingly headless enterprise driven by conflicts." Read the full scoop on their website. [b]Clive Barker's 'Nightbreed' Headed to Blu-ray Soon![/b]
Fans of famed horror author Clive Barker can rejoice: his "Nightbreed" will be headed to Blu-ray soon (the right cut, even!). The 1990 movie written and directed by Barker — starring "Cosmopolis" director David Cronenberg as a creepy masked doctor — had had a long and troubled history. The studio forced various edits and re-shoots to create a more marketable effort, which resulted in a fascinating creature feature that looked great, but felt underdeveloped and out of synch. Later, the original work prints were discovered, pieced together, and dubbed The Cabal Cut. Since then, Barker has been trying to give the more cohesive version a proper release, and production company Morgan Creek has finally given him permission to move forward with his efforts. [b]Real-Life Crime-Inspired Tale 'Devil's Knot' Adds Three to Cast[/b]
[url="http://www.deadline.com/2012/06/devils-knot-adds-trio-to-cast/"]Deadline[/url] reports that Collette Wolfe ("Young Adult") and Kris Polaha ("Ringer") are joining the cast of Atom Egoyan's drama about the West Memphis Three, while "Glee's" Justin Castor is considering a role. Polaha will play public defender Val Price, Wolfe will play assistant Glori Shettles, and Castor is in talks to play Jason Baldwin, one of the West Memphis Three. Colin Firth, Mireille Enos and Reese Witherspoon all star in the movie about the young men who were wrongly accused of murder, devil worship, and ritualistic sacrifice. They were recently freed from prison, where they spent 18 years in lockdown.

[b]Art House Director Takes on Vampire Love Story with 'Fright Night' Star[/b]
"Fright Night" star Anton Yelchin [url="http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/56387/anton-yelchin-out-prove-there-are-only-lovers-left-alive"]will appear[/url] alongside Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and John Hurt in Jim Jarmusch's "Only Lovers Left Alive." It's a vamp tale about star-crossed lovers set to film this summer. We don't know much about Yelchin's role yet, but we're assuming he's one half of the lovelorn couple, possibly paired with Wasikowska. The "Dead Man" director is an unlikely choice for a vampire love story, but that's what makes it so exciting and full of potential.
