'Dictator' Star Sacha Baron Cohen Is No 'Fool,' Ben Kingsley Says

If anyone can thwart "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/390422/moviemain.jhtml"]The Avengers[/url]," it's [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/33909/personmain.jhtml"]Sir Ben Kingsley[/url]. Not just because he's probably playing The Mandarin in "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/466015/moviemain.jhtml"]Iron Man 3[/url]," either, though that certainly doesn't hurt. No, it's because the Oscar-winning actor is bringing a barrel of laughs to the big screen by way of "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/467934/moviemain.jhtml"]The Dictator[/url]," the new [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/294580/personmain.jhtml"]Sacha Baron Cohen[/url] comedy hitting theaters on Wednesday (May 16). The comedy is looking to bring some brand-new hilarious heat to the very same box office that "Avengers" is currently rocking, and Kingsley's all-aboard for the ride.



Kingsley might not be the first name you'd imagine when thinking of actors likely to appear in a Cohen comedy, but never forget, the two have worked together before—very recently, in fact, in [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/453640/moviemain.jhtml"]Martin Scorsese's "Hugo."[/url]

"Sacha does approach comedy scientifically. He doesn't fool around on the set," Kingsley told MTV News of the "Dictator" actor. "He's very focused. He's very committed to the film and the truths that are wrapped up in this great, amazing comedy experience are always intact."



It's that very same commitment to truth that makes "Dictator" such a hilarious success, according to Kingsley.

"The dictatorship is always abhorrent. The dictator is usually a collection of prejudices and bigotry. They loathe democracy," he said. "All of that is food for the enormous comedy feast that the film turns into, but it's rooted in certain truths. You get them, or you don't. What you do get is an amazing blockbuster, summer comedy, but then underneath that layer is a great political satire."
