There are few things we love more than Michael Fassbender, but as we learned while watching "Haywire," seeing Gina Carano beat the crap out of him is truly something special.

To celebrate the release of "Haywire" on Blu-ray and DVD, we have an exclusive clip from the featurette "The Men of 'Haywire,'" starring none other than the Fassbender himself.

In the clip, Fassbender explains what he enjoyed most about the ultra-cool screenplay for the film. "What I like from the script is all the stuff that's not said, the intrigue," he says. "I got an old school espionage-type film, like an old spy thriller, going back to the early 80s, from what I can remember of my childhood. That's the feel I got from it, although it's set in a modern context."

Director Steven Soderbergh gets a lot of the credit in Fassbender's book. The actor complemented Soderbergh's ability to control the mood on set, while letting each scene breathe and grow. "Of course Steven's so skilled that he brings a real air of confidence on set and makes everyone feel confident and relaxed," he says. "We discover scenes as we go, the tone of it, the color of it and what sort of pitch. We want to set the scenes as ever-changing. It happens very organically."

"Haywire" is out on Blu-ray and DVD now.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
