Not many details have escaped from the set of the next Bond movie, "Skyfall," but the latest issue of Empire and the Sony panel at CinemaCon have shed some light on the upcoming 007 adventure.

The first teaser trailer for "Skyfall" is set to premiere next month in front of "Men in Black III," but CinemaCon attendees got a sneak peek at the first footage from the trailer. Entertainment Weekly posted a play-by-play, so minor spoilers ahead.

The trailer opens with Bond engaging in a game of word association with someone ComingSoon.net believes is Albert Finney's character.
"Country …" the examiner begins.
"… England," Bond replies flatly.
"Gun …" the man says.
"… Shot," Bond says.
"Agent …"
"… Provocateur," Bond says. (Hey, maybe he’s just a fan of luxury lingerie.)
"Murder …"
"… Employment," Bond growls.
"Skyfall …"
Bond hesitates.
The examiner repeats it: "Skyfall …"
"… Done," Bond says finally, standing up and walking toward the glass while Dench and Fiennes look like they just swallowed their chewing gum.
The rest of the trailer plays out with a montage of action sequences and Bond uttering the kind of dialogue you expect from him. "Some men are coming to kill us," he says. "We're going to kill them first."

Producers also revealed at CinemaCon that the next Bond movie is set for 2014, so we won't have to wait another four years like last time.

If the trailer description isn't enough to satisfy your need for British spy action, Empire's cover story from the set of "Skyfall" just hit newsstands. In it, director Sam Mendes recounts the story of how he joined the film, which amounted to Daniel Craig approaching him at a party and asking him.

Mendes wasn't sure at first, but then he remembered how "Casino Royale" made him feel. "I think, like lots of people, 'Casino Royale' woke me up again to the possibilities of Bond. It seemed for the first time to be a real person in a real situation."

You can check out the rest of the story in Empire's June issue.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
