Back2life Presents: Soul II Soul
Friday, 25 May 2012
Electric Brixton
10pm - 4am

Electric Brixton are excited to announce the launch a new monthly residency curated by Soul II Soul creator: Jazzie B.

This live music and club night aims to celebrate the original era of the Soul II Soul movement by returning to the original venue where Soul II Soul held their infamous weekly club night.

The Electric Brixton residency is about Jazzie B celebrating a rich, thriving & inspiring history by inviting classic acts for live performances or DJ sets - old friends & collaborators thrown together for one off jam sessions – but the concept is not just about the past, it seeks to capture the imagination of a new generation, with nods to the young DJs, producers and artists who grew up on Soul II Soul records and went on to carve their own creative niches. Spinning the same loving spirit into a thousand new directions.

Jazzie B has chosen to launch his Electric Brixton residency night with an old-school bang, via a live performance from Soul II Soul original grammy award -winning singer Caron Wheeler, whose soulful vocals made tracks such as “Keep on Movin’” and “Back to Life” the instant and enduring classics that they have become.

Rumours of a new album collaboration between Caron and Jazzie, to be released later this year, will make this a very special chance to see one of the most eclectic and talented soul singers of her generation performing live in London.

Joining the bill will also be very special guests – so stay tuned in... www.electricbrixton.com for further announcements!

Limited £15 earlybird tickets available now!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
