Following in the trend of "Transformers" Super Bowl spots, Universal Hollywood has released a teaser for their upcoming commercial that will promote their new attraction, "Transformers: The Ride 3D."

The ride has already made its debut in Universal Singapore (watch a video about it here), but will be opening in Hollywood in May. Other than the promise, "Humans, you are in grave danger," from Optimus Prime, the commercial doesn't really give us any sense of what the new attraction will look like. Maybe the full-length Super Bowl ad will do a better job showing what kind of ride it will be. You can find out more about "Transformers: The Ride 3D" and watch the teaser ad on its website.

Based on information we know about the incarnation of the attraction at Universal Singapore, "Transformers: The Ride 3D" introduces a new Autobot named Evac (aka the car that carries you through the ride). The story follows a group of people -- i.e. you -- who need to protect one part of the All Spark in a government facility from Megatron and the rest of the Decepticons. The 3D experience looks to be similar to "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man 3D" in Universal Orlando. That popular attraction is getting a make-over that should be ready this summer.

Though "Transformers: The Ride 3D" looks to take place in the Michael Bay "Transformers" universe, it doesn't seem like fans should expect to see any of their favorite onscreen human characters making guest appearances. Guess we'll just have to wait until later this year to find out if Jason Statham is actually taking over the franchise.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
