Kathryn Bigelow's follow-up to her historic Oscar win for "The Hurt Locker," an untitled film about Osama Bin Laden, naturally drew a lot of attention as soon as it was announced.

But last week, a deluge of casting news drove anticipation through the roof with the confirmation that both Chris Pratt and Joel Edgerton had joined the project and that Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong and Edgar Ramirez were in talks.

MTV News' Josh Horowitz spoke with Pratt and Chastain on the red carpet for the Critics' Choice Awards about working with Bigelow and the work that goes into preparing for a project like this.

"I'm excited. I'm really excited," said Pratt, who recently made a big splash in his first major dramatic role with "Moneyball." "I'm a huge fan of hers. I think she's the kind of director, she wants you to do something, you say 'yes' and you do it."

With so much secrecy still surrounding the movie, it remains unclear specifically who Pratt and Chastain are playing. Pratt jokingly opened up about his role, a controversial choice by the film's makers. "I play Osama Bin Laden. Yeah. They're going super caucasian, which is an odd choice," he said, but answered seriously next. "I think I'm going to play one of the Navy SEALS."

Chastain was a little less forthcoming about her role but just as good-humored, insisting that no assumptions be made about her taking down Bin Laden. "How do you know I am?" she asked. "How do you know I'm not just one of his wives?"

Both Chastain and Pratt could agree, however, that they have a lot of work ahead of them.

"I'm really happy to be a part of it, a little nervous," Pratt said. "But I'm doing all my research and trying to get myself right for it. I'm just really looking forward to it."

Chastain said that her prep so far had been a lot of "homework." "A lot of reading about something I didn't know about. You know me. I love to prepare," she said.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
