Fulton County Police arrived at the couple's home in Alpharetta, Georgia, at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday after Houston called to report a domestic dispute. "Ms. Houston called and stated her address and asked for someone to be sent out, but did not identify herself," said Corporal Kurtis Young, spokesperson for the Fulton County Police Department. "She wasn't hysterical or anything, she was very calm."

When police arrived, the pop diva told officers that she and Brown had a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation, which ended with Brown hitting her on the left side of her face with an open hand. The officer who responded noted a bruise on Houston's cheek and a cut on the inside of her upper lip, Young said. Houston did not specify whether she struck Brown in response or what precipitated the incident.

Brown had boarded a flight for Los Angeles by the time police arrived and they are still trying to track him down to get his version of events. Police did not know if the West Coast trip was previously planned.

Round 2.

Singer Bobby Brown charged with battery

after pop star wife reports fight at home

By MARCIA LANGHENRY

Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer

Singer Bobby Brown was charged with battery Wednesday, three days after a fight with his pop star wife, Whitney Houston, left her injured Sunday.

Fulton County police spokesman Kurtis Young said Brown, 34, received a copy of the charge and was arrested after turning himself in Wednesday.

The former member of the teen R&B group New Edition is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Jan. 7.

The volatile couple and their attorneys spent most of Wednesday afternoon with police in Fulton County Magistrate Court's North Annex in Dunwoody.

"The police wanted to basically give him a copy of the charge," his attorney, Maurice Bennett, said. "They are trying to work it out, as we speak, as husband and wife."

Houston declined comment, except through her attorney, Mark Trigg.

"She is trying to resolve the matter privately," Trigg said.

On Sunday, Fulton police responded to a call by Houston to the couple's home at the Country Club of the South near Alpharetta. Houston, 40, said Brown had struck her on the left side of her face with an open right hand.

The responding police officer saw a bruise on Houston's cheek and a cut inside her upper lip, police said. But by the time the officer reached the house, Brown was not there.

On Tuesday evening, police returned to the couple's home and spoke to Houston, police spokesman Young said.

Young said Brown had flown to California and police were trying to find and interview him.

However, Trigg said Wednesday that Brown did not go to California after the altercation.

Brown was released after serving seven days in DeKalb County Jail in August for violating his probation for a 1996 drunken driving conviction.

He was arrested at an Alpharetta restaurant where he was dining with his wife.

I saw on the news that when cops arrived, Whitney had a bruised cheek an a cut lip. I also heard that when Bobby surrendered to cops, Whitney was "by his side." You know, it used to be that when women "stood by" their battering husbands, women used to excuse this by saying, "That's just the way some women are raised." Nowadays, such women are referred to by another word -- STUPID.

I think batterers should have a 3-strikes rule. First offense, they get mandatory anger management counseling. Second offense, the police beat the crap out of the batterer, then send them to mandatory anger management counseling. Third offense? Send the batterer to prison for five years, telling inmates that any physical violence against the batterer will go unpunished as long as they don't kill the batterer.

BTW, notice I didn't use the word "man" or "him" in that last paragraph. JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) statistics on emergency room admissions for domestic abuse report that just as many men as women are seen each year. Also, CLICK HERE for an article on battered men from ABC News, CLICK HERE for a similar article in the Orlando Sentinel, or CLICK HERE for a more recent article (10 days ago) in the Boston Globe. FWIW, there are a lot of organizations out there (more than most people know about) that deal with the issue of battered men. Many of them have credence because they are started or shepherded by women (battered men have mothers and sisters, too). Notice that all three articles are written by women.

Stupid or not, this  this just proves the old adage "any publicity is good publicity"...

I'd agree in most cases ... but certainly not all. I think Michael Jackson's fall from grace among fans began at approximately the same time he paid off that kid in 1993. BTW, glanced at a brief article in the National Enquirer (yeah, I know). It said that the charges against Jackson would kill Elizabeth Taylor, one of his biggest celeb supporters/defenders. But, there may be some truth to that. Taylor has suffered from lifelong diseases ... and if Jackson is found guilty, shattering her belief in his innocense, it certainly won't do her psyche any good.

Speaking of which ... Jacko's first court date is now less than a month away.

While checking out of the grocery store a couple weeks ago, we saw a headline featuring Osama and Saddam cradling a baby monkey. The headline claimed the couple had adopted it.

Oh, I don't know. The Weekly World News sometimes runs really deep, thought-provoking articles -- like THIS ONE,

I've always respected large breasts.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
