Ben Kingsley can't get enough of his "Hugo" costar Asa Butterfield, apparently. Their powerful dynamic in the Martin Scorsese 3-D period piece was easily one of the highlights of that movie, and viewers are about to be treated to another collaboration between the pair of actors.

For his part, Kingsley would play a legendary war hero long presumed dead.

» We've always known that Sacha Baron Cohen is the master of the house, but now it's more or less official. The "Borat" and "Bruno" star—who also has the "Hugo" connection to the aforementioned Kingsley and Butterfield, mind you—is in talks to play Thénardier in Tom Hooper's musical adaptation of "Les Miserables," according to Entertainment Weekly. Thénardier, you may recall, is the twisted innkeeper who abuses poor Cosette; if cast, he'd play opposite Helena Bonham Carter as his equally wretched wife.

» He ducked out on the Oscars, but you're not getting rid of Eddie Murphy that easily. The "Tower Heist" comedian is hitting the small screen by way of HBO's untitled biopic about former Washington D.C. mayor Marion Barry, reports THR. Spike Lee is attached to direct.

» Speaking of Spike Lee, if you were hoping for Colin Firth to terrorize Josh Brolin in the director's upcoming "Oldboy" remake, we've got some disappointing news. Twitch reports that the Oscar winner has decided to pass on the American version of the Chan-wook Park revenge thriller, leaving the door wide open for another actor to take the coveted bad guy role. Who would you suggest to replace Firth?

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
