After the big time success of his latest project "Immortals," director Tarsem Singh has his eyes on the project he'd like to tackle next.

Tarsem recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he would like to direct the live-action version of "Samurai Jack," the beloved and critically acclaimed animated series that aired on Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004.

The potential director and subject combination is sure to have fans nodding their heads in agreement. Tarsem is known particularly for his otherworldly visuals and could theoretically make a great director for the unique art direction of "Samurai Jack."

The animated series ran for four seasons and followed the titular character, a feudal Japanese warrior banished to the future as he desperately searches for a way to return to his own time. Over the course of its run, the show won four Emmy awards.

New Line attempted a live-action adaptation of "Samurai Jack" back in the early 2000s with the now-controversial Brett Ratner at the helm. When a film did not materialize during that attempt, the rights to the film reverted back to Cartoon Network, who currently holds them.

No official discussions about a Singh-directed "Samurai Jack" film have taken place.

Singh's next film, "Mirror, Mirror," a new take on the story of Snow White is scheduled to hit theaters in March of next year.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
