That would be "Haywire," the upcoming action thriller starring Gina Carano, the fighter lucky enough to face off against the likes of Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum and Ewan McGregor.

A second trailer for the film has hit the web, and this time it's Fassbender getting the crap beat out of him in the opening minutes of the video instead of Tatum. Though less plot-heavy than the first trailer released after Comic-Con, this second "Haywire" teaser is a more succinct look at the action-packed roller-coaster the movie promises to be. So you better watch out, Michael Douglas, because this ex-CIA operative is coming for you.

Also starring Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton and Michael Angarano, the film follows a freelance cover operative named Mallory Kane who is betrayed by the CIA on a mission to Barcelona. If you pay attention closely enough at the beginning of this trailer, it becomes clear that Fassbender is the man sent to off her, though it doesn't end up going quite as smoothly as planned. Mallory then goes on the run and is forced to protect herself and her family from those who betrayed her, and also plots her revenge.

It is certainly exciting to see all these big names in one place. Entertainment Weekly caught up with Fassbender to talk to him about his experience working with Carano in her first film role.

“I was just focused on keeping it together, and not getting clocked and not hitting Gina, though she would be able to take it a lot better than I would,” he said.

And as for that "Goldeneye"-esque scene where Carano wraps her thighs around Fassbender and tries to kill him, the "Shame" star laughed and said, "I mean, I just put my head where they tell me to..."

"Haywire" hits theaters on January 20.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
